North Seymour
North Seymour is a flat uplifted island located just north of the Baltra airport approximately 90 minutes from Puerto Ayora. The island has 5 dive sites (including Daphne & Mosquera) suitable for all levels of divers, and with the greatest variety of species per square foot this area is a favorite among locals.
On the south side of North Seymour you have the opportunity to dive. With a depth of around 50 feet the northern portion of the channel is bustling with life here you will explore a virtual underwater botanical setting where garden eels appear as sprouting plants rising from the sandy bottom, brightly colored reef fish appear as flowers, sardines as twinkling lights, white tipped reef sharks seem arranged as ornamental boulders as they nap on the bottom nearby, green sea turtles are seen like large bushes contrasting to the brightly colored spotted golden rays appear like fall leaves floating through the water.
Frequent sites include a large Galapagos garden eel colony, sea turtles, sea lions, fur seals, golden eagle rays, yellowtail grunts, bigeye jacks, schools of snappers as well as frequent sightings of whitetip reef sharks, hammerheads and Galapagos shark.
